NURSING

The department of nursing started functioning at the inception of the Institute with 10 staff nurses. Now we have a full fledged Nursing Department with 140 staff nurses and other paramedical staff.

To tide over the acute shortage of specially trained nursing staff in super specialty disciplines we selected 20 girls who had passed out of the school and gave them specialized training. We have found this system satisfactory and have trained three more batches of Nursing Assistants, out of these two batches were sent to SSSIHMS, Whitefield when that hospital was started in 2001.

As an incentive for growth the nursing assistants were encouraged to register for Diploma in Nursing and take the government examination to become GNMs.

We have a fully furnished Nurses Hostel and also provide family accommodation to our married staff.

The nursing department has been able to provide quality care to our patients. They have an 8 hours working schedule with weekly Day Off. Earned Leave, Casual Leave etc as permitted by government rules. Free Basic Medical Care is also given to them and their families.
